Celebrating a Remarkable Retirement – Martin Barker.
On 17th May 1984, Martin Barker co-founded Rowan Precision alongside Chris Kent. Together, they built the business from the ground up, navigating its highs, overcoming challenges, and laying the foundation for what “Team Rowan” stands for today.
When Chris retired in 2017, Martin took full ownership and continued to drive the business forward — not just through leadership, but by building a genuine team culture. Many of Rowan’s current staff have been with the business for over 25 years — a testament to the environment he created.
In 2020, OSYS first engaged with Martin to explore the future of the business. It quickly became clear that Martin wasn’t looking to sell — he simply wanted the right support. That partnership led to OSYS Rowan investing in May 2021, initially taking on 50% of the business before taking full control in October 2024.
Now, in April 2025, Martin officially steps into retirement after 41 years of dedication, leadership, and loyalty.
His legacy isn’t just the machines or the numbers — it’s the team, the values, and the relationships he’s built. Fortunately, Martin isn’t going far. He’ll continue to support Rowan on a consultancy basis, ensuring that his deep industry knowledge and long-standing client connections remain a part of the company’s journey.
Martin — and his wife Jayne — will always be a cherished part of the Rowan story, and warmly welcomed at all future celebrations.
