Most engineering companies focus on technical skills when hiring. Rowan Precision looks for people with the right attitude.
Based in Birmingham, Rowan Precision continues to grow as demand rises across aerospace, defence, and high-performance manufacturing. The company values attitude, commitment, and a willingness to learn above all.
Rowan Precision is hiring CNC Setter/Operators to support ongoing investment in advanced manufacturing. There are opportunities for both experienced machinists and those looking to start or advance their careers in precision engineering. Karen Harrison, Head of Operations at Rowan Precision, says some of the best engineers aren’t always those who know everything on day one.
“We’re looking for people who are eager to learn and who genuinely want to build a career,” she said. “You can teach someone how to use a new machine or process, but enthusiasm, reliability, and pride in quality work are much harder to teach. That’s what we look for most.”
Rowan Precision has invested significantly in its manufacturing capability over the past 18 months, expanding its sliding head machining capacity with Citizen LFV technology, strengthening inspection through Keyence and Aberlink metrology systems, and further enhancing quality processes accredited to AS9100, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
For new recruits, those investments provide the opportunity to work with advanced manufacturing technologies while learning alongside an experienced team.
“We’ve built a place where people ask questions, develop their skills, and support each other,” Harrison said. “Whether someone has years of experience or is just starting out, we want them to feel part of Team Rowan from day one.”
As customer demand grows, Rowan Precision believes developing its people is just as important as investing in machinery. Instead of only hiring for specialist experience, the company focuses on finding people with the right attitude and helping them develop the technical skills they need to succeed.
“Manufacturing is constantly evolving,” Harrison said.
“New technologies, new customer requirements and new opportunities mean we’re all learning all the time. The people who thrive here are those who embrace that, enjoy solving problems and want to keep improving.” The company’s collaborative culture drives its growth. Employees work closely across production, quality, and engineering to deliver high-precision components to customers in some of the world’s most demanding industries.
This team-first approach goes beyond the factory floor. Rowan Precision puts a strong focus on employee development, teamwork, and creating opportunities for people to grow as the business expands.
“We want people to see Rowan Precision as somewhere they can build a future,” Harrison added.
“When someone joins us, we’re not simply filling a vacancy. We’re investing in a person and giving them the opportunity to grow with the business. If someone brings the right attitude and a willingness to learn, we’ll do everything we can to help them succeed.”
As Rowan Precision grows, the company invites ambitious CNC machinists and engineers to explore what a career with Team Rowan can offer. If you’re ready to learn new skills, work with the latest manufacturing technology, and join a supportive team, Rowan Precision has a clear opportunity for you. Your career awaits.
